Gypsy Pistoleros Rocklahoma Review
“The band I was most excited to see for the day, and possibly for the whole festival, was Gypsy Pistoleros, so we decided to skip Triumph and camp out in front of the south side stage to stake our claim for good spots. We weren’t the only ones with that idea. By halfway through Triumph’s set, there was a group of about ten to fifteen people. By the end of the show, I turned around to see an entire mob.”
“Not surprising at all, since the Pistoleros put on an amazing show. There was not a ballad to be found in the exhilarating set, which included “Un Hombre Sin Rostro, Pistolero”, “Forever is Para Siempre”, “Chicas Peligrosas”, and a killer cover of “Livin’ La Vida Loca”. I’d been excited to see them since I heard their fantastic reviews from Rocklahoma 2007 – so no pressure, guys! – and they did not disappoint. They were easily my favourite show of the festival.”

This Weekend we had a Trip to the Costswolds, The Cotswold Falconry Centre has over 70 Birds of Prey, and most of them have big long claws, so i was glad to make it home alive. There are a mixture of Falcons, Hawks, Eagles, Owls, Vultures and some Caracara. It was quite windy on the day that we was there so we was very happy to see some of the bigger birds up in the air. Every time i see a Bald Eagle, i am amazed at the size of there wings and the sheer mass of the full grown Birds
The Vultures did smell quite – strong, but i guess that should be expected. They did have some old rotting Rabbits in the bottom of there house/cage.
It was a bit strange taking photos of these amazing birds though. I think getting these photos of wild birds is a lot harder than one that is chained down and payed to smile at the camera. Its a bit like fishing in a fish tank really. But never mind! it was a fun day ! The bird center also offer Day and weekend type courses for you to get even closer to the birds, Click HERE for the link to book a course!
Just west of Moreton-in-Marsh (Gloucestershire – UK), Batsford Arboretum is tucked away right next to the The Cotswold Falconry Centre
We got there a bit late in the day to have a look around, but will be back soon! If you want to save some money you can buy a pass for both centres and save a couple of pounds, but get there early to have enough time. It also might be an idea to contact the The Cotswold Falconry Centre to get the show times and which birds are out that day.
This photo is High Res, So you may download it and enjoy!
The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is a bird of prey found in North America that is most recognizable as the national bird and symbol of the United States of America. This sea eagle has two known sub-species and forms a species pair with the White-tailed Eagle. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States and northern Mexico. It is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting.
The Bald Eagle is the national bird of the United States of America. It is one of the country’s most recognizable symbols, and appears on most of its official seals, including the Seal of the President of the United States.

Lavondyss also titled Lavondyss: Journey to an Unknown Region is the second fantasy novel of the Mythago Wood series by award winning author Robert Holdstock originally published in 1988. The name of the novel hints at the real and mythological locales of Avon, Lyonesse, Avalon and Dis; within the novel Lavondyss is the name of the remote, ice-age heart of Ryhope wood.
Also, Lavondyss is the name of a band from Rugby, and a little be different to the novel.
“Lavondyss Are a 5-Piece Hardcore/Progressive band based in Rugby, Warwickshire. We formed in 2006, and immediately began performing live, finding ourselves jumping around on countless stages across the UK… And we haven’t wanted to do anything else since.”
I did a Photo shoot with the guys from Rubgy a while ago, with Support from Wolf at the door, they have sorted out a fine Mini-album, and video to match. They also seem to attracting more and more attention from the UK press.

“It’s been surreal. Unfortunately we seem to have just missed the mark on trying to create a “War of the Worlds” esque panick, but so far we’ve had nothing but positive responses about the album and we can’t wait to follow it all up with some tours and let people see our set the way it was meant to be seen… Live.
I have heard however that we’re going to be mercilessly slated in ROCKSOUND. Luckily, I don’t think I know a single person who’s ever bought one! haha “
Seb, lavondyss.
I (hopefully) see the band going from strength to strength, they are currently editing the video to follow up and push the album. For tour dates check out there website via my links section.
Dave,

The Nikon D700, announced on 1 July, ‘08, is a bit of a shocker, and indicative of a new, much more aggressive Nikon than we have been accustomed to during this digital decade.
In brief, it is a full-frame (FX) camera using the same 12 MP sensor and image processing electronics as in the Nikon D3, except in a body closer in size and weight to the Nikon D300. Remarkably, the D700 has as much as 95% of the goodness of the D3 in a camera that costs some $2,000 less. If that isn’t aggressive, I don’t know what is.
Unlike some other camera companies (you know who I mean), Nikon doesn’t reduce build quality, features and functionality on its second tier cameras. This means that except for a few items, such as a single rather than dual card slots, and the lack of audio note recording, the D700 has virtually every feature of the D3. It even ups the ante by adding a pop-up flash unit (which nicely serves as a remote flash trigger with Nikon Speedlights), and dust removal sensor shake, something that’s now de rigueur on all new cameras, but which was lacking on the D3.
Of course because the body is a lot smaller than a D3 and just slightly bigger than a D300, it lacks a vertical grip and release, but this can be remedied through the addition of an optional MB-D10 battery grip. Continue Reading…
Some Sample Photos from the wedding,

last weekend was a busy weekend for me, first ever weekend with 2 weddings on, First was Friday in Coventry for a old friends wedding. I can honestly say I have never been to a wedding before with so many children running around the place!
The day after I was working for Prestige Photography at a lovely Manor house near Stratford-upon-Avon. It was my first chance to use my new white umbrellas, it was a very rainy day but we had lots of fun and got some great shots.

As a photo-realist painter, I have often been asked why I don’t just take a photograph. Good question, when you consider my paintings look like photographs. Well, for one thing, I’m not a photographer. To me, it is not the destination that is important—it is the journey.
The incredible challenge of recreating reality is my motivation. —Bert Monroy
