So late one night my phone rang,

So late one night my phone rang, not an abnormal thing to happen I know, but this is a strange way to start a photography post for a blog. It was Richard Sumner, Editor of Face On Magazine.  What was unexpected was that Rich had mainly called to ask if I wanted to shoot the next cover of Face On, this would be my second cover this year for them. Quite exciting to say the least.  I jumped off the phone and set to work. Due to a heavy work load in Zurich,  my main man, Bryon Paul McCartney wont be able to make it for this shoot. So I am going it alone. Any offers to come shoot this with me ?

So, I have another cover to shoot, with an editorial to match with it. I needed ideas, and I needed inspiration. I set about building my mood boards and sketching out some plans.  It came clear quickly that I wanted to shoot this in two parts, nailing the cover in the studio then getting the rest of the shoot done on location. I now had two shoots to plan.  My next call was the multi-talanted Chloe-Jasmine Whichello. Ideas were fused and formed, warped and wrestled into shape with the aid of coffee, sleep and lots of flicking over photo galleries. I had my PDF plan.  Lovingly created in Indesign I must add.  Chloe-Jasmine hooked me up with Ginger Snap Models for the work to begin on the casting side.

So, I need one cover model ( hopefully Abbie, ) and three other models. They have to fit in the concept of the shoot.

1910′s / 1920′s
1940′s / 1950′s
1970′s / 1980′s
2000′s/ 2011

Each model has to fit into an era and have matching styling, dress and shoes. While still in a bridal theme.  So that’s the plan, that’s the idea. If plans do go well, we may look at adding a 5th girl to help cover the missing dates.  I need a stylist, and I need a good one. If you think its you… get in touch.

I have contacted a very special guest photographer to also come on board to really light the fire under this shoot. More details coming very soon. As will more information is created, it will be added for your reading pleasure.

For a cover shoot.

I need a model, sorry, not a model, but THE model. On the original brief from the Editor, there was a model pre-set in mind, but after a quick few e-mails, things soon looked like i shall be looking for a new girl. A few agency’s have been contacted and girls have been scouted, but awaiting the news !!  I really hope Abbie from Ginger Snap Models in Bristol is free and up for the shoot !

My last cover for Face On was for the 2010 Winter edition, We shot a Tilda Swinton themed Ice Queen.  The Summer cover is going to full of colour and full of fun. The polar opposite which is quite fitting for me to shoot.

Below is Abbie, but who knows… the slot is still very much open, nothing is confirmed as of yet.

 

 

The plan is to shoot the Cover and the spread as two separate shoots. The cover shall be a stand alone shot using flowers and very powerful colours to welcome the summer on to our shores. The style of the photo will be very Face On.  So clear crisp and sharp.   The main shoot is going to be styled in a another way completely

Designers I have on my list for the spread are Joe Challita (of course . . with some exclusive dresses), Danny Tang  (from his stunning AW10 collection)  Liv Free is making something very amazing for the cover also.

So , this is about where I have got to.. E-mails have been sent, castings have started, Location scouts have been sent far and wide,

I can not wait to get stuck into shooting this, I have the whole new range of NIK software plugins to try and review, plus I get to play with my lovely new Edwardo ( Eddie from the 3 legged thing company) the most divine tripods known to man.
